Other tactics can help \u2014 keywords, HTML headers, schema markup \u2014 but links alone can move a URL into Google&#8217;s top five positions.<\/p>\n<p>ChatGPT can improve the link-building process. Here are a few prompts to get started.<\/p>\n<h3>ChatGPT Prompts for Link-building<\/h3>\n<p><strong>General brainstorming prompts. <\/strong>ChatGPT expedites brainstorming. Ask questions, ponder the answers, and generate follow-up queries.<\/p>\n<p>Say I own an ecommerce site selling pet supplies. I could ask ChatGPT for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/15-tools-for-link-building\">linkable asset ideas<\/a> for my shop. Here&#8217;s an initial prompt:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>I own an online store selling pet supplies. Generate a list of digital assets I could create to attract backlinks.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ChatGPT listed five ideas, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>&#8220;Pet Adoption Stories&#8221;: Develop a heartwarming collection of stories about pet adoptions. <\/em><em>Encourage pet owners to share their personal adoption stories, including photos and <\/em><em>videos, highlighting the positive impact pets have had on their lives. Collaborate with <\/em><em>local animal shelters and rescue organizations to feature their success stories as well. <\/em><em>This emotionally engaging content can attract backlinks from pet-related blogs, news <\/em><em>outlets, and animal welfare websites.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Read ChatGPT&#8217;s responses for helpful ideas. If none, click &#8220;Regenerate response&#8221; to obtain a new list. Repeat that process until you have an idea worth pursuing. Don&#8217;t quit!<\/p>\n<p>Adjust your prompts, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Come up with unique ideas no one has implemented.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Focus on a specific link acquisition audience, such as journalists, bloggers, or Reddit users.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Generate ideas for a single asset type, such as ebooks, infographics, or whitepapers.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Prompts to find bloggers, podcasters, more. <\/strong>ChatGPT&#8217;s database is dated, so it should not be a primary method to locate current linking sources. But it&#8217;s still helpful.<\/p>\n<p>Start with a broad prompt:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>I am the owner of an ecommerce site that sells pet supplies. List bloggers and podcasters who interview entrepreneurs like me.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ChatGPT will list a few bloggers and podcasters.<\/p>\n<p>I could then follow up with other prompts, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Where else can I get featured? List all opportunities, not just bloggers or podcasters.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A local brick-and-mortar business could prompt ChatGPT to find nearby media outlets or locale-based link-building opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Again the initial prompt doesn&#8217;t have to be perfect. Keep the dialog flowing to generate more ideas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Write an outreach email.<\/strong> During the brainstorming process, prompt ChatGPT to create a relevant outreach email. After listing potential bloggers, for example, ChatGPT <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/chatgpt-prompts-for-text-analysis\">could compose<\/a> a solicitation email, starting with this prompt:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Compose an email I can use to reach out to those bloggers.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Follow-up prompts could include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>This email isn&#8217;t convincing. Try harder.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Use a more informal tone.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Come up with a more original and shorter subject line.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Make it shorter.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In my experience, ChatGPT&#8217;s email templates require tweaking. But they streamline the process, eliminating having to start from scratch.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Niche research. <\/strong>Google doesn&#8217;t consider &#8220;link building&#8221; as a search intent and is therefore not the best tool for finding those opportunities. With the right prompts, ChatGPT <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/my-favorite-chatgpt-prompts-for-seo\">can help<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Find websites that recommend (but do not sell) pet supplies.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Identify active bloggers that focus on pet care.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Find pet care discussion boards and forums.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>List subreddits that discuss pet care.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Find journalists the cover pets at popular media outlets.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here&#8217;s ChatGPT&#8217;s partial response to the last prompt (find journalists):<\/p>\n<div class=\"status_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"status_container\">\n<div class=\"status_right_section\">\n<div class=\"secondary_button grey restart\">\n<ul>\n<li><em>Certainly!
