However, the number of deals, 983, declined by 2%.<\/p>\n<div id=\"everviz-EjTxQ24Lq\" class=\"everviz-EjTxQ24Lq\"><script src=\"https:\/\/app.everviz.com\/inject\/EjTxQ24Lq\/?v=4\" defer=\"defer\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>According to PitchBook, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/category\/management\/finance\">financial technology<\/a> can be broken into two segments: retail and enterprise. Retail fintech deals with customers directly, while enterprise focuses on businesses and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/hubris-upended-silicon-valley-bank\">financial institutions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Retail fintech venture capital funding (<a href=\"https:\/\/files.pitchbook.com\/website\/files\/pdf\/Q1_2023_Retail_Fintech_Report_Preview.pdf\">PDF<\/a>) in the first quarter of 2023 totaled $3 billion in deal value across 167 deals, compared to $23 billion and 1,039 deals for <em>all<\/em> of 2022.<\/p>\n<div id=\"everviz-lgxzr-ET7\" class=\"everviz-lgxzr-ET7\"><script src=\"https:\/\/app.everviz.com\/inject\/lgxzr-ET7\/?v=7\" defer=\"defer\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>Per PitchBook (<a href=\"https:\/\/files.pitchbook.com\/website\/files\/pdf\/Q1_2023_Enterprise_Fintech_Report_Preview.pdf\">PDF<\/a>), enterprise fintech VC funding stood at $11.8 billion in Q1 2023 for 336 deals versus $38 billion and 1,858 deals for the <em>entire<\/em> 2022.<\/p>\n<div id=\"everviz-g7qc2YRE5\" class=\"everviz-g7qc2YRE5\"><script src=\"https:\/\/app.everviz.com\/inject\/g7qc2YRE5\/?v=4\" defer=\"defer\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>&#8212;<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/dealroom.co\/blog\/fintech-q1-2023-report\">According<\/a> to data by Dealroom, a Netherlands-based database management company, the &#8220;Payments&#8221; fintech sector has received the most global funding in 2023.<\/p>\n<div id=\"everviz-688B9TcwO\" class=\"everviz-688B9TcwO\"><script src=\"https:\/\/app.everviz.com\/inject\/688B9TcwO\/?v=5\" defer=\"defer\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, fintech funding fell across regions, per the S&amp;P Global Fintech Funding Trends <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spglobal.com\/marketintelligence\/en\/news-insights\/research\/global-fintech-funding-primed-for-reset-in-2023-report\">report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"everviz-yY9f8AwSI\" class=\"everviz-yY9f8AwSI\"><script src=\"https:\/\/app.everviz.com\/inject\/yY9f8AwSI\/?v=8\" defer=\"defer\"><\/script><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Funding for financial technology companies increased in Q1 2023 from Q4 2022.
