PitchBook&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchbook.com\/news\/articles\/unicorn-startups-list-trends\">unicorn tracker<\/a> includes all qualifying companies from 2016 onward.<\/p>\n<p>According to PitchBook, 606 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/for-global-unicorns-its-growth-and-volatility\">new unicorns<\/a> were formed in 2021 alone at a valuation of\u00a0$1.5 trillion.<\/p>\n<div id=\"everviz-B9if2Wwc8\" class=\"everviz-B9if2Wwc8\"><script src=\"https:\/\/app.everviz.com\/inject\/B9if2Wwc8\/?v=3\" defer=\"defer\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>As of June 2023, North America has produced 883 unicorns since 2016, the highest of all regions, with a total valuation of $3 trillion. Asia ranks second with 529 unicorns, while Europe follows with 203.<\/p>\n<div id=\"everviz-qB784Pbh8\" class=\"everviz-qB784Pbh8\"><script src=\"https:\/\/app.everviz.com\/inject\/qB784Pbh8\/?v=5\" defer=\"defer\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>The information technology industry has had the highest number of unicorns (795) since 2016, with a total valuation of $3 trillion.<\/p>\n<div id=\"everviz-jFdaTt9px\" class=\"everviz-jFdaTt9px\"><script src=\"https:\/\/app.everviz.com\/inject\/jFdaTt9px\/?v=5\" defer=\"defer\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Per PitchBook, the combined valuation of all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/9-europe-based-ecommerce-unicorns\">Europe-based unicorns<\/a> is \u20ac471.2 billion (approximately $507.3 billion) as of June 2023, a slight 0.3% decline from the Dec. 31, 2022, total of \u20ac472.7 billion.<\/p>\n<div id=\"everviz-KGb7RGtMQ\" class=\"everviz-KGb7RGtMQ\"><script src=\"https:\/\/app.everviz.com\/inject\/KGb7RGtMQ\/?v=13\" defer=\"defer\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Crunchbase continually updates its <a href=\"https:\/\/news.crunchbase.com\/unicorn-company-list\/\">Unicorn Board<\/a> with new entrants and exits.
