That&#8217;s according to the Q2 2023 &#8220;E-commerce Report&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/files.pitchbook.com\/website\/files\/pdf\/Q2_2023_E-Commerce_Report_Preview.pdf\">PDF<\/a>) from PitchBook, the financial data and research firm.<\/p>\n<div id=\"everviz-zhTR9FU_4\" class=\"everviz-zhTR9FU_4\"><script src=\"https:\/\/app.everviz.com\/inject\/zhTR9FU_4\/?v=6\" defer=\"defer\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"everviz-zhTR9FU_4\">&#8211;<\/div>\n<p>The exit value of ecommerce VC investments totaled $5.3 billion in 2022, representing an 82.4% fall from 2021. The 59 deals in 2022 were a 9.2% decrease from the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Exit&#8221; refers to investors selling their stakes, typically via a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/quiet-light-founder-on-state-of-ecommerce-ma\">sale of the company<\/a> or an initial public stock offering.<\/p>\n<div id=\"everviz-bPxh4vLuB\" class=\"everviz-bPxh4vLuB\"><script src=\"https:\/\/app.everviz.com\/inject\/bPxh4vLuB\/?v=7\" defer=\"defer\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Capstone Partners is an investment banking firm in Boston that provides merger and acquisition advisory services.
