The result is a slew of misleading and uninformed speculation.<\/p>\n<p>The importance of Schema.org markup is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/AISearchAnalytics\/comments\/1oblyfv\/the_seo_community_is_not_the_problem_getting\/\">an example<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Schema for LLMs?<\/h3>\n<p>I&#8217;ve seen no statement or indication from a large language model regarding structured data markup, including Schema.org&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>Google has long advised using such markup for traditional organic search, <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/docs\/appearance\/structured-data\/intro-structured-data\">stating<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Google Search works hard to understand the content of a page. You can help us by providing explicit clues about the meaning of a page to Google by including structured data on the page.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The search giant generates <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/using-rich-snippets-for-ecommerce-product-pages\">rich snippets<\/a> from select structured data and gathers info on a business from additional markup types, such as Schema.org&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/how-to-set-up-organization-schema\">Organization<\/a>, FAQPage, and Author.<\/p>\n<p>While answers from Google&#8217;s AI Mode tend to come from top organic rankings, we don&#8217;t know the impact of structured data on AI agents or crawlers.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike Google, LLMs have no native indexes. I&#8217;ve seen no reputable case studies demonstrating that structured data improves AI mentions or citations. Implementation, moreover, is easy (and cheap) with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/3-tools-to-build-validate-schema-markup\">apps and plugins<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, focus on the proven long-term tactics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Create <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/do-queries-are-an-seo-priority\">actionable content<\/a> that helps LLMs understand the problems your products solve.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Emphasize and invest in overall <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/brand-visibility-is-the-new-seo\">brand visibility<\/a>, and track Google searches for your company and products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure your brand and its benefits appear <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/is-geo-the-same-as-seo\">alongside competitors<\/a> in &#8220;best-of&#8221; listicles and recommendations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Optimize your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/geo-for-chatgpt-instant-checkout\">product feeds<\/a> for conversational searches. Prompts are much more specific and diverse than search queries. Provide as much detail as possible to capture all kinds of conversations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Align your content and products with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicalecommerce.com\/more-fan-out-seo-tactics\">fan-out queries<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Low Priority<\/h3>\n<p>Structured data markup such as Schema.org likely drives organic search rankings and therefore helps AI visibility indirectly. Yet implementation is easy and almost certainly a low priority.
